Mona’s Weekly Top 3

27 January 2012

After a long absence, the list is back!  Here are some of my recent genealogy finds:

1.  My Geni work buddy, Erica, pointed me to Story Corps, an American NGO.  The groups goes out into diverse communities and records oral histories.  This model is definitely something that would be worth considering in the Philippines.  Owing to poor document conservation practices, this would be one way the next generation could learn about us.  Meet the Story Corps.

2.  Do you want to interview your lolo or lola; but do not know how to start?  Take that first step with this great list from Great Life Stories.

3.  Battle recreations don’t just happen in the other countries.  The Abucay Line, a battle between Philippine-American forces and the Japanese Imperial Army, was recreated in December 2011 in Bataan, under the auspices of the Military Vehicle Collectors Club of the Philippines.  A repeat may be in the horizon …

Your Ka-Angkan,
Mona

I am so happy to have found this website. I have been searching for my Filipino ancestors on the web without much success. I am hoping this website will provide me with much needed resources. Thank you.
